Doctors Door Knocker

This Doctors Door Knocker is cast from high quality genuine solid brass and polished to produce a traditional Doctors' style door knocker.
It is attached to a small fixing plate which is ideal for doors with a narrow centre style.
This solid brass doctor's knocker takes its inspiration from an early Georgian design; the knocker was said to have been used to identify the front door of a Doctors' house, hence the name.

Un-lacquered Polished Brass - From the Anvil's Polished Brass products come un-lacquered for authenticity. The finish may be maintained with Brasso, or left to acquire a darker and more aged patina.
Polished Nickel - A highly polished finish with a nickel plating applied to solid brass which is salt tested to 480 hours. Similar to a polished chrome finish but with much warmer tones.
Polished Chrome - A highly polished finish which reflects like a mirror. A base metal of solid brass with quality chrome plating applied to its surface which is salt tested to 480 hours.
Satin Chrome - A highly polished finished which is brushed with a unidirectional finish to give the satin look. Created from a base metal of either solid brass or steel which then has a quality chrome plating process applied to its surface.
Aged Bronze - This finish is manufactured from solid un-lacquered bronze containing a minimum of 85% copper; with a rich, matt hue, due to the finishing process used to age the metal, this process initially darkens the material, however the finish will gradually oxidize over time revealing the warmer copper undertones. This finish has been salt tested to 480 hours.
Aged Brass Finish - (For Internal or External Use) Similar to the Antique Brass finish, but subtly less dark. To achieve the Aged Brass Finish we accelerate the ageing process of the un-lacquered brass, except then the finish is re-polished. The result is a beautiful product which hightlights any dark detail on the product. To retain the original finish, regular polishing with a good quality metal polish is essential. However, if the intention is to allow the surface to age through oxidization, no attention needs to be given. Over time the brass will acquire a darker and more aged patina.
